“Horror films dominated the cultural conversation in 2017. So NY Times asked the year’s best actors to perform in a series of short frightening films,” the media outlet posted on Twitter.
Directed by Floria Sigismondi, whose credits include music biopic The Runaways, an episode of Marvel’s Daredevil and two episodes of Hulu’s acclaimed The Handmaid’s Tale, these shorts are more like mood snippets, something akin to marketing for a run of American Horror Story. They’re nicely shot pieces; whether or not they’re “frightening”… is up to the beholder.
Below you can find Nicole Kidman’s The Possessed, Jake Gyllenhaal’s The Damned, Andy Serkis’ The Demented Clown and Tifanny Haddish’s The Macabre Dancer. You can watch the rest of the shorts, starring Saoirse Ronan, Cynthia Nixon, Timothée Chalamet, Daniel Vega, Daniel Kaluuya, and Brooklynn Prince, at The NY Times.
