The final trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes has been released, and it’s a doozy.

The third film in the acclaimed franchise finds Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes going head to head with ruthless Colonel (Woody Harrelson) in a battle that will decide the fate of the planet and which species will be left standing. One thing’s clear: tragic losses will be suffered by all.

With a strong first chapter and a phenomenal sequel, the Apes franchise has proven itself to be one of the best around, and if this trailer is anything to go by, looks like we’ll have one hell of a trilogy on our hands.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves, who’s also attached to direct Ben Affleck’s long-gestating The Batman, returns at the helm.

Mark the calendar: War for the Planet of the Apes, also starring Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, Karin Konoval, Judy Greer and Terry Notary, will open in the US on July 13 and arrives in Australia on July 27.
