The next spinoff to The Conjuring franchise has its director.

Lined up to direct the horror spinoff The Nun is filmmaker Corin Hardy, who broke out with the 2015 creatures in the woods horror film The Hallow. He’s also been attached to a remake of The Crow, although that one’s been stuck in development for quite a while now.

Deadline broke the news, reporting that Hardy will be directing The Nun from a screenplay by Conjuring director James Wan and Gary Dauberman. Dauberman’s writing credits include the first Conjuring spinoff Annabelle, which has a sequel – from Lights Out director David F. Sandberg – set for US release on August 11. Wan is also on board as producer on both spinoffs.

The Nun will be focusing on that creepy demonic nun featured in The Conjuring 2, the sequel hit that raked in $US320.2 million from a production budget of $US40 million. This horror series is proving to be quite the cash cow for New Line; The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2 and Annabelle have raked in a total $US895.1 million worldwide.
