The film follows an insurance salesman (Neeson) who finds himself on quite the train ride after he meets a mysterious woman (Vera Farmiga). He’s offered a substantial amount of cash to take part in a seemingly simple experiment: find the person who doesn’t belong on the train. Of course, it isn’t that simple.
Collet-Serra has a good handle on these one-location thrillers, having directed Neeson aboard a plane in Non-Stop and Blake Lively on a rock in The Shallows. This could be a fun, suspenseful outing, with two solid leads to boot. And considering the actor says his days in action-thrillers may be numbered, this could be one of the last bad-ass Neesoners coming our way.
The Commuter, also starring Patrick Wilson, Sam Neill, Killian Scott, Jonathan Banks and Elizabeth McGovern, will arrive in Australia on January 11 and is scheduled for US release on January 12.
In this action-packed thriller, Liam Neeson plays an insurance salesman, Michael, on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine. After being contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on his train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, he realizes a deadly plan is unfolding and is unwittingly caught up in a criminal conspiracy. One that carries life and death stakes for himself and his fellow passengers.
