Warner Bros’ upcoming Aquaman movie has added actor Patrick Wilson in a key role.
Jason Momoa is reprising his role as the titular superhero, who we got a glimpse of in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and now we know Patrick Wilson will be playing his half brother. According to Deadline, Wilson has been cast as Orm Marius, aka Ocean Master, Aquaman’s half brother and rival in the comics.
Orm has seen a few different origin stories in the comics, but the character’s main motivation is usually to take the throne of Atlantis and to wreak havoc on and below the high seas.
This will mark yet another chapter in the long working relationship between Wilson and filmmaker James Wan. After starring in the Wan-directed Insidious, Wilson went on to star alongside Vera Farmiga in The Conjuring and then reprised his role in the sequels Insidious: Chapter 2 and The Conjuring 2.
Wilson has a role in the Michael Keaton-starring McDonald’s movie The Founder and will next year be seen alongside Farmiga again in the Liam Neeson thriller The Commuter.
Aquaman, also starring Amber Heard as Queen of Atlantis, Mera, and Willem Dafoe as Atlantis advisor Nuidis Vulko, is scheduled to open in the US on October 5, 2018.
