It’s been a bit of a journey for the Han Solo film so far.
After director Ron Howard was brought on to take the helm of Solo: A Star Wars Story, following the highly reported firing of directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, many assumed that the film’s release would be pushed back to accomodate reshoots. But nope, Disney/Lucasfilm were determined to keep their U.S. release date: May 25, 2018.
That’s right, the Solo movie will be released in just a few months. While it’s pretty surprising that we still haven’t received a trailer or even official movie images, Lucasfilm has unveiled the film’s official synopsis. It doesn’t offer up any major plot points, but it does confirm that this prequel story will show us how Han met Chewie and Lando.
Here’s the synopsis:
Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a seres of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.
Solo: A Star Wars Story will star Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Woody Harrelson as Han’s mentor Tobias Beckett, and Emilia Clarke as Qi’Ra. Expect a trailer to arrive very soon.
