“Wanna test me? Step up. I’m right here.”
Our first look at Luke Cage‘s second season has arrived in the form of a quick, but fun “Date Announcement” trailer unveiled by Netflix. It’s certainly more of a teaser, providing snippets of Cage (Mike Colter) taking down baddies and being an all-round bad ass. What the actual plot will entail remains to be seen, but we do know that we’ll see the return of Alfre Woodard’s Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi’s Shades, and Simone Missick’s Misty Knight, the latter of which has a new appendage following the events in The Defenders.
The synopsis confirms we’ll see the “rise of a formidable new foe”. We’ll see if this villain can come close to the great turn Mahershala Ali put in as Cottonmouth in season 1.
Season 1 showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker is back for another round, with Lucy Liu on board directing the first episode.
Watch out for Luke Cage season 2 to drop on Netflix on June 22.
Synopsis for Luke Cage Season 2:
After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.
