Lucy Liu, who many will know more from her acting career, is to direct the very first episode of Luke Cage‘s second season.
This will mark yet another television chapter for Liu’s directing resume, which includes an episode of USA Network series Graceland and four episodes of CBS show Elementary, in which she also stars.
“What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters,” Liu said in a statement. “It is such an honour to work with such a passionate and fearless team.”
It’s quite the get for the actress-director, who one can imagine will be stepping behind the camera on even bigger projects in the near future. Liu is also working with Netflix on the acting front, co-starring in the streaming giant’s upcoming comedy Set It Up, which also stars Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell, and Taye Diggs. Expect that one to hit Netflix next year.
Mike Colter is returning in the titular role for Luke Cage season 2, which will land sometime in 2018. But before the hero’s second season rolls around we’ll be seeing him team up with Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist in The Defenders, set to drop on August 18.
