Kristen Wiig Confirmed as ‘Wonder Woman 2’ Villain

It’s official: Kirsten Wiig will be playing a villain in Wonder Woman 2.

Word broke in late February that the SNL alum had entered talks to enter the DC cinematic universe as antagonist Cheetah, and it’s now clear that negotiations went well.

Returning director Patty Jenkins hit Twitter to confirm “the most thrilling news”, posting that she is very excited for what they have planned:

Gal Gadot also expressed her excitement:

The comics have seen four different incarnations of Cheetah: Priscilla Rich, a 1940s-era blonde Washington, D.C. debutante with a severe inferiority complex and a split personality; Deborah Domaine, Priscilla Rich’s niece, who is brainwashed into taking on her auntie’s villainess persona; Barbara Ann Minerva, a selfish, neurotic British archaeologist who takes the powers of a cheetah from the leader of an African tribe; and Sebastian Ballesteros, an Argentine business tycoon who became the only male Cheetah after convincing plant god Urzkartaga that he should take on the mantle. While it’s safe to assume that Wiig won’t be playing the latter, it remains to be seen which version Wiig will take on; we could end up getting an amalgamation of a few.

Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham have written the screenplay for Wonder Woman 2, which is scheduled for U.S. release on November 1, 2019.
