We’ve been waiting almost 14 years (!) for a sequel to The Incredibles, and it looks like it may have been worth the wait.
Disney•Pixar have unveiled an exciting new trailer for the long-awaited follow-up, which finds Bob Parr / Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) attempting to hold down the fort and take care of the family when his wife Helen Parr / Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) heads off on a mission. Suffice it to say, Bob’s going to have his hands full, with Dash (Huck Milner) and Violet (Sarah Vowell) bickering, and baby Jack-Jack wildly exhibiting his many powers.
The first film still stands tall in Pixar’s library of hits, so here’s hoping the sequel follows suit. It certainly looks great, seemingly showcasing the balance of strong characterisation, heart, humour and action that made the original so good. Having Brad Bird (The Iron Giant, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) back on writing and directing duties certainly bodes well, too. Can. Not. Wait.
Incredibles 2, also featuring voice work from Samuel L. Jackson, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Jonathan Banks, Sophia Bush, and Isabella Rossellini, with Bird back as Edna ‘E’ Mode, will arrive in Australia on June 14 and opens in the US on June 15.
Synopsis for Incredibles 2:
In “Incredibles 2,” Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
