The first teaser trailer has dropped for Fifty Shades Freed, the third and final film in the hit franchise adaptation that kicked off with 2015’s Fifty Shades of Grey.
This adaptation of E. L. James’ third book in the Fifty Shades series finds Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) adjusting to her new life now that she is married to Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). Things are looking good, with kinky bedroom activities and – wow, is that a real, actual jet owned by an already clearly established rich guy!? Alas, of course, trouble is around the corner for this newly married couple.
Fifty Shades Darker director James Foley (Glengarry Glen Ross, House of Cards) returns at the helm here, as does E.L. James’ (Erika Mitchell’s) screenwriter husband, Niall Leonard.
The $US378.8 million Darker earned was a substantial drop from the $US571 million brought in by the first film. Still, that’s almost $US950 million worldwide from just two movies, so regardless of the critical reception afforded thus far, Universal has quite the valuable franchise here. Expect the third outing to whip up a nice box office as well.
Fifty Shades Freed, also starring Eric Johnson, Eloise Mumford, Rita Ora, Luke Grimes, Victor Rasuk, Max Martini, Callum Keith Rennie, Bruce Altman, Arielle Kebbel, Robinne Lee, Brant Daugherty, with Kim Basinger and Marcia Gay Harden, arrives in Australia on February 8 and will open in the U.S. on Valentine’s Day, 2018.
