The first poster has finally been released for the long-awaited adaptation The Dark Tower.

The film, which is actually a sequel of sorts to Stephen King’s The Dark Tower book series, stars Idris Elba as Roland Deschain, aka The Gunslinger, a man roaming through an Old West-like landscape searching for the titular tower in the hopes that reaching it will preserve his dying world. A boy, Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor), accompanies him on his mission, while the evil Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey) is hot on their tail.

We’ve waited so long for this film it started to feel as though it may never come to fruition. Well, it’s not only coming, it’s actually only a few months away. The Dark Tower, directed by A Royal Affair helmer Nikolaj Arcel and also starring Fran Kranz, Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick, and Abbey Lee, will arrive in Australia on July 27 and opens in the US on July 28.

Check out the Inception-esque poster for The Dark Tower below, featuring Roland and Jake at the bottom and Man in Black at the top, followed by some images from the film. Expect a trailer to drop very soon.
