Momentum Pictures has dropped the trailer for Beast of Burden, an upcoming thriller led by Daniel Radcliffe.
The film follows a pilot who’s made a deal with the U.S. government: go undercover and traffic drugs for the Cartel, and in exchange get medical treatment for his cancer-stricken wife. He’s got one last flight run left, so of course everything hits the fan and he finds himself caught between the government and the Cartel.
Radcliffe has been putting in good work over the past few years, delivering strong performances in films such as Horns, Imperium and Jungle. Unfortunately, most of his recent films – save perhaps Swiss Army Man – haven’t been particularly memorable, at least in this writer’s opinion. Beast of Burden doesn’t appear to do Radcliffe’s talents any favours either. The trailer below shows off a dimly lit, low-budget, midday-movie type of thriller. Hopefully it’s better than it looks.
Swedish helmer Jesper Ganslandt (Falkenberg Farewell, The Ape, Blondie) directs from a screenplay by Adam Hoelzel.
Beast of Burden also stars Pablo Schreiber, Grace Gummer and Renée Willett and will be hitting select U.S. cineams, VOD and Digital HD on February 23, 2018.
Official synopsis for Beast of Burden:
Pilot Sean Haggerty (Daniel Radcliffe) must deliver cocaine across the US-Mexico border for his final run as a drug smuggler. Alone in a small plane, he is faced with the burden of choosing between his allegiance to the Cartel, his deal with the Drug Enforcement Administration and saving his increasingly tense relationship with his wife, eagerly awaiting his return.
