‘Batman Ninja’ Trailer: The Dark Knight Gets a Kick-Ass Anime Makeover

Batman’s first anime feature film looks freakin’ awesome.

Take a look at the trailer for Batman Ninja, an upcoming animated feature that takes Batman and plants him in feudal Japan. The plot includes a number of villains from Batman’s rogues’ gallery, including The Joker, Two-Face, The Penguin and Poison Ivy. The film also features Gorilla Grodd and Deathstroke.

The film is directed by Junpei Mizusaki, an animation director on a number of Mega Man video games and a producer on the much-loved anime series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The story and original Japanese screenplay comes from Kazuki Nakashima, who writing credits include another beloved anime series, Kill La Kill.

It looks joyously nuts, and one that’s jumped up high on my must-see list. It’s hitting Japan in 2018 sometime; expect other home entertainment release dates to be announced soon.
