‘American Animals’ Trailer: College Kids Plan a Crazy Heist in This True Story

The Orchard

Take a look at the first trailer to drop for American Animals, an upcoming true-story heist film that’s been receiving solid reviews on the festival circuit since it premiered at Sundance in January.

Evan Peters (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk, The Killing of a Sacred Deer), Blake Jenner (The Edge of Seventeen), and Jared Abrahamson (Travelers) star as four college friends who decided they would pull off one of the most audacious art heists in US history.

The energy is high in the trailer, showing off a slickly directed and well-performed picture with a crazy true story to tell. Writer-director Bart Layton comes from the documentary realm; he directed the the fascinating 2012 hit The Imposter and was behind the National Geographic series Locked Up Abroad. As per early reviews, and the great marketing piece below, he may very well be one to look out for on the feature film side of things as well.

American Animals will be hitting US cinemas on June 1.
